Is the "Occult Jesus" a different Jesus from the one in the Bible ?
Yes, Here's why.
Many people today understand that those who are
in the occult have "occult theology". But there is much more to this.
Occultists were not satisfied with having their own theology. They also have
their own version of history.
Many occultists believe that this history can only be accessed spiritually, by
going into an altered state, a trance or induced by drugs. Essentially this is
an occult version of history - of what might have happened if Jesus Christ were
NOT God, and if Satan really were an angel of light.
Many occult authors have written about this, and have a very developed
worldview, which makes many claims about history that run counter to the Bible
and historic Christianity.
According to this occult worldview, Jesus never really was the Son of God.
Instead Jesus was a "master" who came to teach you how to save
yourself. He was not the Son of God either, only a son in the sense that we are
all sons of God.
Farther down the road, occult adherents often "learn" that Jesus was not Jewish
either, and that the Bible is not the real Bible, only the distortions of those
who obtained the "real" manuscripts of the Bible. Most of the
"real" Bible that ends up being promoted bears a strong resemblance to
Apocryphal books, the Gospel of Thomas and other books.
These teachings have several common themes:
1. Jesus is not the Christ
2. Jesus did not die for your sins
3. Jesus was not resurrected
4. Jesus lived a human existence and married - usually someone named "mary"
who was around at the time of his earthly existence.
5. Jesus after age 33 went into seclusion, either in the East or in Tibet
6. The essence of seeking true spirituality is not the teachings of Jesus Christ
but rather Experiences which FEEL SPIRITUAL, which SEEM spiritual, or which come
to those who seek through
"angelic beings", also called "spirit guides"
There are several major groups that promote these teachings, in addition to
overt occultists. They are:
1. Freemasons
2. Rosicrucians
3. Neo-Pagans (often but not always)
----------
Most of these themes run together, but they all center on:
the denial of Jesus Christ as the one exclusive "only begotten" Son of
God, who came to die for your and my sins, and who entirely paid the penalty
through his death and resurrection.
When we read or hear these stories, we need to understand that the purpose of
those stories serves to undermine the claims of Jesus Christ to be the one and
only Son of God, who died for all.
Luke 21:8 And he said, Take heed [or Watch OUT !] that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
Spiritual enemies of God are very good at writing fiction. There is no
historical basis for suggesting that Jesus was ever married. There is every
theological and historical basis to believe that the claims of Jesus Christ and
the Bible are true, though this might surprise some.
