CAFTA TRADE TREATY PASSES CONGRESS 217-215

(Still think that one or two votes don't count ???)

WASHINGTON (AFP) - July 28/05 - A free trade pact with Central America and the Dominican Republic cleared the US Congress, after it was approved by a narrow 217-215 vote in the House of Representatives.

Signed more than a year ago, CAFTA-DR was approved by a 54-45 vote in the Senate on June 30 and its passage in the House was uncertain until the last minute.

Bush and his cabinet fought an uphill battle to have it approved.

Failure to pass CAFTA-DR would have made Bush politically vulnerable for the remainder of his second term in office and seriously weakened his hand in negotiating a wider Free Trade Area of the Americas and bringing about a freer global trading system under the Doha Round of talks under the World Trade Organization.

Lawmakers from sugar-producing and textile-manufacturing states also rejected the trade deal fearing it could increase unemployment in their regions.

"We must not neglect the anti-democracy, anti-American forces that are at work in Latin America," said Republican representative for California David Dreier said in support of CAFTA-DR during the two-hour debate before the vote.

"Certainly, CAFTA does not fix all the problems facing Central America. But increased economic integration can only add jobs and help alleviate poverty, reduce the flow of migration northward, and make our region more competitive in world markets," said Jim Kolbe, Republican for Arizona.

Maryland Democrat Whip Steny Hoyer said he could not support the measure "for its failure to guarantee basic workplace protections for Central Americans and a level playing field for American workers."

Now that CAFTA PASSED

How To Respond to CAFTA - Both Personally and Legislatively

How to Prevent CAFTA from taking Effect.

Understand that just because CAFTA was passed does not mean that it Must become law.

Alter CAFTA and makes its enforcement impossible.

I. OPTIONS FOR RESISTANCE TO CAFTA and CHANGING ITS CONTENT

Here are some options:

1. Defund the CAFTA offices. CAFTA will be run out of the Department of Commerce, the Office of the U.S. Trade representative, and several other U.S. Government agencies. Simply De-Fund those portions of any and all agencies that work to implement any portion of CAFTA,

2. Impose Restrictions on Corporations that either Lobby in Favor of Nafta or that apply for any provision, tax allowance, tax rebate, subsidy, government loan or grant

After all, fair is fair. If Corporations are going to get into the business of trying to manage our daily lives, maybe it is time to get into the day to day business of helping those corporations.

3. Forbid any government agency from either funding, loaning or granting any funds to any corporation or city, town or state, - either inside of the U.S. or Outside - where CAFTA or any portion of CAFTA is used or invoked.

4. Publicize the donations of any funds given to Senators and Representatives by Corporations that benefited or will benefit from CAFTA

5. Revoke and Freeze the Salary of any government agency or any government employee, or any government contractor - who works in any branch of government that either pushes or promotes:

NAFTA

CAFTA

FTAA

WTO

Codex Alimentarius

Prevent any government agency from hiring any person who has worked for NAFTA/CAFTA projects within the U.S. Government unless they agree - in writing and as a condition of employment -  to help Reverse and Dismantle NAFTA, CAFTA and WTO.

6. Prohibit the use of CAFTA without RIGOROUS side Agreements. Congress and the President made MANY side-deals to get CAFTA passed. What if the people of America ALSO made some side deals...such as

No sale of any CAFTA item into the U.S. Market without certifying and ENFORCEMENT MECHANISMS for "4 guarantees" - for all items produced in a "CAFTA" region.

4 guarantees

1. Labor Guarantees of Just Wages that would prevent corporations from paying CAFTA workers slave wages.

2. Rigorous Environmental Standards and inspections - all through the process of manufacture

3. Just Labor Practices such as paying for overtime and no forcing Employees to work more than 40 hrs a week, so that they cannot be forced to work 75 hrs a week, as their Condition of Employment (which happens often in Latin & South America and Third World Nations).

4. Freedom of Speech, Assembly, and Religious belief and Practice - Lets make sure that U.S. Rights start to have a WIDER impact in the world, and NOT the disappearing impact that Multinational Corporations are attempting to achieve.

II. What you can do to Respond to the Passage of CAFTA

1. Find out if your congressman/Representative voted FOR CAFTA

2. inform them that:

- you will hold them accountable by voting

- they can change their mind and introduce ANTI-CAFTA legislation and THAT would make a difference in your support

- you will work to publicize what they have done, and you will actively support their opponents since the Passage of CAFTA will take AMERICAN JOBS away from Americans.

3. CHANGE THE CONTENTS OF CAFTA.  Inform them of possible options for legislation that they can support to CHANGE the CONTENT of CAFTA that would include the "4 Guarantees"

4. Begin to ask your elected officials to REPEAL not CAFTA, but NAFTA and WTO

- The Legislation that enables CAFTA and Codex Alimentarius can be found in NAFTA and WTO. Any congressman can introduce legislation MANDATING that the U.S. withdraw from these Treaties and that the laws of the U.S. which were in place BEFORE would once again go back into force.

5. Start pushing and publicizing the Need to withdraw from CAFTA and WTO. The solution to Globalization is to STOP Globalization. This does not mean being opposed to other people at all, but only simply to act legislatively - in opposition to Political Rule by Multinational Corporations.

6. Push for the De-FUNDING (by Americans) of the following Multinational Fronts:

a. The World Trade Organization

b. NAFTA and CAFTA

c. The United Nations and Codex Alimentarius

7. Begin to actively promote American BORDERS.

Politicians treat the American Borders as though they were something morally indefensible. WHY are they afraid to stand up for America and Americans ???

It is American Borders that protect Americans from living under the Corrupt Mexican Government.

It is American Borders that protect American homes, and Families and that SHOULD guarantee the right to life, Liberty, Property and the Pursuit of Happiness

It is American Borders that should be closed - especially the Southern Border. Let’s make being an American something to be PROUD of. The first step is to be proud of the USA and to stand up and Defend this Country.

AMERICAN BORDERS need to be defended Legislatively, also. The American People could use some protection from many of the Larger Corporations that accept Large Subsidies at Taxpayer expense while they work to pollute the land, gouge us through high prices, and harm the people..

8. Prevent Corporations from Donating Funds to those trying to DISINTEGRATE the Country.

There are MANY corporations that actively promote the Disintegration of the American Border. They want to merge the USA into Latin American countries so that American Politicians become even More Corrupt than they already are. This is a process that can be resisted.

Many of these Multinational Corporations have Charities and Foundations that give funds to groups that work to divide America, to erase the Borders, and to erase American History. This practice must be stopped. Many of these corporations give to ethnic groups that openly and brazenly promote ethnic tension. This also is a practice that must cease. Many of these Multinational Corporations have advisors that hate America and American Values.

10. Make a personal Commitment to learn as much as you can about

NAFTA

GATT

World Trade Organization (WTO)

Codex Alimentarius

The United Nations

and how those groups actively work to Harm American Sovereignty. There is no one who can do this but you. Freedom isn’t Free. It takes times, effort, energy and an active pursuit of learning and knowledge to find out how to defend your country. You can make the difference and you can start today. The more you learn, the less others will be able to mislead you. The more you learn, the easier it will be to hold your congressman accountable.

III. Help Politicians understand what Freedom actually means.

Freedom is not the ability to work forever while being chained to your machine that makes products to sell to others. That is NOT called "Freedom". That is called....SLAVERY.

Freedom is not a concept that means that Corporations can rule unrestrained. Freedom is a concept that applies to PEOPLE and NOT to corporations.

Every time President Bush says he is for Freedom, like CAFTA = FREEDOM, it means that Bush thinks that it is the Corporations that lack Freedom. That is not the case. It is the PEOPLE that lack FREEDOM.

Bush Administration Fosters STILL more Job Transfers to India

India, US talk business
By Siddharth Srivastava

July 22/05 - ATimes - Among the significant initiatives that were unveiled at the meeting between Singh and US President George W Bush has been the launch of a high-level bilateral CEO forum. The forum is intended to provide effective private sector participation in the economic dialogues between India and the US. The CEO forum brings together 10 top businessmen each from India and the US to promote Indo-US economic cooperation in the coming years. Not conceived as a pressure group on the two governments, the forum has been designed to provide a practical and hands-on body influencing economic policymaking in both countries.

"Extending beyond trade, which is rapidly growing, the intensifying and increasingly complex economic links being forged between our two countries are having a profound impact on our joint and respective economic outlook in the 21st century," said the State Department announcing the forum. "Both our governments have agreed that we should create a high-level private sector forum to exchange business community views on key economic priorities. Input from the business community is an integral component of a successful bilateral economic dialogue."

The Indian CEOs in the forum are Ratan Tata (Tata group), Mukhesh Ambani (Reliance), Nandan Nilekani (Infosys), Yogesh Deveshwar (ITC), Dr Pratap Reddy (Apollo Hospitals), Baba N Kalyani (Bharat Forge), Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw (Biocon India), Deepak Parekh (HDFC), Ashok Ganguly (ICICI) and Analjit Singh (Max India). Those in the American team are Charles Prince (Citigroup), Warren Stanley (Cargill), Steven Reinemund (Pepsi), David Cote (Honeywell), Paul Hanrahan (AES Corporation), William Harrison Jr (JP MorganChase), Harold McGraw III (McGraw-Hill Companies), Thomas J O'Neill (Parsons Brinckerhoff), Christopher Rodrigues (Visa International) and Anne M Mulcahy (Xerox).

The US is India's biggest trading partner and its largest investor. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) totaled over US$4 billion in 2004, more than double the figure in 1998. Trade in merchandise stood at $21.7 billion last year.

Indeed, the growth of the middle class-one of the underpinnings of democracy in this country-has been reversed. By government action.

Taken as a whole, these are results of the rules that govern the game:

Question: Is your Point of View "Right" or "Left" ?

We don't care about labels. We care about truth and facts, and believe that many sides have many pieces of the political truth about what is happening in the world. We are against large Multinational corporations that harm the people, impovrish countries, and destroy the middle classes. Our point of view is in believing in the Average American, and in the Integrity of the American Worker. We support the Middle Class, and government that stays out of the way of the People, and that will stop expanding and expanding and expanding its power, and its reach and its goals.  We cannot be in favor of multinational and globalist agreements that are designed either to hurt America or the American Worker or the Family (meaning Dad, Mom and the kids) - or that are designed to continue to harm and erode American Sovereignty because the politicians find the will of the people to be something which is "inconvenient".

"Left" and "right" are simply ways that Congressmen, their handlers and P.R. people attempt to divide the American People and get them to work against each other. The fact is that almost everyone is a Libertarian...in the sense that in their own home, they want to do whatever THEY chose, and they do not want Congress or anyone else telling them What to do, especially as long as it does not hurt anyone else. So basically everyone is born a Libertarian, regardless of what they call themselves. Most people also want a Fair Chance, The opportunity of a LEVEL playing field to guarantee the Freedom of Opportunity, where they can have and live their dreams or make the attempt. These Slave-Trade deals - disguised as Fair -Trade, are nothing more than the attempts of Corporations to permanently  make you poor and turn you and your family and to turn us all into economic slaves.

No, we are not making this up. Many of those same corporations actually ran the slave trade and worked to implement that. Many of those same corporations fought against legally limiting the working day, and had decades and decades of forcing people to work for 12 to 14 hrs in very unsafe conditions. Many of these corporations also forced CHILDREN to work as  near slaves until the 1920s, and they STILL DO in other countries.  These Corporations work and make deals in countries that STILL have slave trade...to this day [yes - in 2005]. They try to "wine and dine" congressmen, and offer them almost anything in order to work against the PEOPLE that sent them to Washington.

Their legislative efforts should be opposed through all lawful mean, and there are MANY Things that American can do to constrain, restrain, and curtail the power of these corporations.

There is no "one piece" of legislation that can be opposed. Most of them have to be opposed and to be opposed continuously. It is a long process. But liberty - a small amount of it - is all that remains with which to fight. If we do not use it to stand up, there will soon be no liberty left, and no country either.
