Where does the Greek Text in Catholic Bibles come from ?

Is is a different Greek Text than the Greek Text of other Bibles ?

It is fashionable among Catholic historians to claim that their Bibles come from all of those Greek Manuscripts that are old.

Well that is true. But the question is from Which Greek Manuscripts ?

There are two categories of ancient Greek Texts to choose from:

1. Those Manuscripts that agree 95% with each other from all over the world

2. Those Manuscripts that disagree with the 95% of the Greek manuscripts of the Bible, and then disagree also with the remaining 5 % (that disagree with each other).

And this Second category is where Catholic Bibles come from.

Now we all know the official catholic History of Bibles, that their Bibles came from the Latin Vulgate of Jerome, and the English version came from the Rheims-Douay Version, which was based upon the Latin Vulgate.

But what was the Latin Vulgate based on ? The Latin Vulgate of Jerome was based on corrupted Greek Manuscripts that Eusebius was told to make for Constantine.

Eusebius was a Political Historian of the Church. He was a sympathizer with Arius and others. And he did not like the Bibles in use at the time of Constantine. Constantine commissioned 50 Bibles to be copied by Eusebius, and Eusebius set about changing the text of those 50 copies which he made.

Remember this is in the 300s and the Catholic Pope is a long ways from being the powerful person he is today (even if this is only indirectly). Constantine wanted to convert to Christianity and wanted to be saved. This is because Constantine was a worshipper of the Sun God known as Sol Invictus (his other name is Mithras). But Eusebius TALKED HIM OUT OF CONVERSION, because he was concerned that Constantine's conversion could dilute Roman power. So he counseled Constantine to wait until he was on his deathbed, which is what Constantine did.

In anycase, the 50 Bibles were commissioned. One of these copies was kept and copies of it were used within the Catholic Church. Today this Bible - which according to Catholic Church teaching comes from the 50 Bibles that Constantine commissioned Eusebius to assemble - is known as CODEX VATICANUS.

IT is a corrupt Greek Manuscript.
It does Not agree with 95% of the other Greek Manuscripts of the Bible.

The other Greek Text which is good is called the TEXTUS RECEPTUS. This is the one that Protestants have used for Hundreds of Years. This is the one that the Waldensians used for their Bibles. And this Greek Text is the one that agrees with 95% of the Greek Manuscripts of the Bible that we have today from all around the world.

The CODEX VATICANUS disagrees with the Textus Receptus in more than THREE THOUSAND PLACES.

That is the history of the Bible. That is the History of the Catholic Bible. And that fact is something that the Catholic Church would rather not advertise.
