Actual: University Professor Endorses Jihad
Jan 6/05 -HEO - Northeastern University professor Shahid Alam has aroused controversy this week by likening the 9/11 killers to the Founding Fathers. After recounting some details of the establishment of "a sovereign but slave-holding republic, the United States of America," Alam declared: "On September 11, 2001, nineteen Arab hijackers too demonstrated their willingness to die -- and to kill -- for their dream. They died so that their people might live, free and in dignity."
Alam's words were published widely on the Internet. When challenged by an email, Alam replied with an anti-Semitic sneer: "Why is it that the only hateful mail I have received is signed by Levitt, Hoch or Freedman?"
ABA Seeks to Eradicate 'Conscience' Protection
WASHINGTON, D.C. -Aug 9/04 - This week the American Bar Association (ABA) will vote on a proposed resolution that would strip "conscience" protection from healthcare providers who make medical judgments on issues including abortion and contraception based upon their religious beliefs. This proposal comes just days after Family Research Council
(FRC) filed an amicus brief with the United States Supreme Court arguing to overturn a California Supreme Court decision which requires Catholic Charities of Sacramento to offer contraception prescriptions for its employees. FRC's President Tony Perkins and Senior Legal Advisor Pat Trueman have released the following statements:
"At its core this proposal is a direct attempt to discriminate against faith-based medical facilities and professionals who hold the belief that abortion, assisted suicide and contraception are morally wrong. This is just another example of the judicial activism sweeping our country's legal establishment," says FRC President Tony Perkins.
