Purpose driven disaster - purpose driven church scams

When Warren Consultants don't consult the Congregations

Question:
There are those out there that are just fine with this Purpose-Driven Church consultant program. So is there really a problem ?

Well maybe there are those who are just fine with it.

It was not until we started to get email from people who did not know each other, had not talked with each other, and yet were saying the same things (about what is taking place in their churches), that we started to take a closer look.

The problem is not with the people who are happy with the PDL program. The problem is that the people who write to us to voice serious concerns with the issues ...about PDC/PDL
ARE the people who were happy with it, only 6 months ago or a year ago.

So with the people who presently feel happy about the program now, we would say that we only hope that they are right and that the concerns that we have heard are not valid.

But the problem is that this is not what is happening (at least...so far). We are hearing more about PDL training, and church takeovers, and doctrinal changes - not less.

What affects our evaluation about PDL is the same thing that affects us about every other church program:

IF the program actually causes you to get into the Bible and to study it more deeply, and more personally and to spend more time praying and more time knowing God and learning sound doctrine, then we can only be in FAVOR of it.

But if a program has features that do the opposite, then we would have a problem with that approach.

There seems something fundamentally off-track, with a process that begins with the premise that God will send people to your church, but only if you indebt the church for another Twenty years...in order to pay for a church building.

There is something wrong with a "Church-Consulting" process that is built upon NON-Disclosure.

For Non-disclosure to be the premise in private or business contracts, so much the better.

But when this starts to happen in a "Church-Consulting" process, what recourse will the congregations have, when they are the ones who are kept out of the loop ?

IF the process is above-board, those consultants should be opening all training to the public, and this includes the books and the manuals also - especially where there are doctrinal issues involved.

Evangelism Explosion is an example of a good church program. It is open, honest, and above board.

The methods of PDC/PDL leave much to be desired. There seems to be something seriously misguided, where the goal is to change the nature and means by which churches and local congregations have been guided and directed for 2000 years.

It bothers us greatly that there are many other church-members who are more disturbed about PDL but feel that they cannot talk because of non-disclosure agreements that they signed as members of the congregation.

The implications of this are that people are letting their churches fall into wrong teachings instead of speaking up and voicing their concerns.

Anyone who has signed a non-disclosure agreement of that nature with Church Consultants who are keeping the congregation(s) in the dark. should immediately break it, since they have made an illegitimate promise based on having accepted misinformation.

What it looks like...is that PDL/PDC has characteristics that look rather similar to how standard old Charismatic Churches were converted to Word of Faith (WOF) teachings.

Absence of theology, and absence of sound doctrine has many consequences.

We can only hope and pray that many more people will wake up to the dangers of the Purpose Driven life Model. We would encourage you to visit our webpage to learn how you can contribute to this discussion by sharing your stories and experiences with us at this page
