Choice of New Testament Text  - Spiritual State of Translators -

 Linguistic Knowledge of Translators - History of Foreign Language Translations

The second set of criteria addresses the Spiritual State (internally) of the Translators

Topics include:

What is (and is not) a Christian Translator (of the New Testament)

The PERSONAL Impact of Errant and Incorrect Translations (English and Foreign)

What happens to those who render inaccurate Translations of the Bible

1. The Criteria for the Spiritual Understanding of Christians.

2. The Criteria for Spiritual Leadership and being a Pastor in a Christian Church

What is (and is not) a Christian Translator (of the New Testament)

We are perplexed at the lack of information within Christian circles upon this point. Let us begin by defining what a Christian is and is not, in order to address the issue - concerning the New Testament - of a "Christian" Translator.

A Christian Translator is someone whom God - in Heaven - right now recognizes as someone who is known and recognized on a personal and individual level by that same God, as being an authentic and genuine Christian, as God himself set the standard and defines that term, because of a certain decision that the individual has made to believe God, and to respond in accordance with the call of God to believe in the claims and doctrines of Jesus Christ (those claims can be found in an accurate version of the Gospel of John in the New Testament)

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because he thinks he is.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because he wants to be.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because he wants to be known as a Christian.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because he wants to be respected as a Christian or within Christian circles.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because he wants acceptance within Christian academic circles.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because he has joined or been accepted by a Church.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because he has been baptized into a Church or a Church denomination.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because has been baptized by a priest.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because Received a Baptismal certificate.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because holds the title is a Pastor, Priest, Reverend or Bishop.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because has been ordained into Ministry.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because receives a salary as a minister or worker of the gospel.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because has joined a Christian board or the board of a Christian Charity organization.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because is part of a translation project.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because has been hired by a publishing company for purposes of Bible Translation.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because is a member of ABS or IBS, the American Bible Society or the International Bible Society.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because is a member of UBS, the United Bible Society.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because has been born into a Christian Family or a family historically Christian.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because has been christened, or chrismated as Christian in a ceremony.

A Translator is NOT automatically a Christian because has undergone either First Communion or Confirmation.

None of those things will MAKE you a CHRISTIAN, although those who are Christians may participate in some or several of those activities.

While those activities (some of them) may be commendable, doing any of those or all of those will not MAKE you a Christian, nor will doing those activities or joining those organizations CONFIRM that you are a Christian.

Many people have joined those organizations or undertaken those activities and yet, in some cases, those people are NOT Christian, they are NOT going to go to Heaven, and God is not going to call or consider them Christian. IF this is true, it is Not true because we say this, but it would rather be true because God is the one who establishes what is the criteria to become a Christian, and God alone (and NOT us) decides who is and is not a Christian.

If you are not sure what makes a person a Christian or how to be saved or know for sure that you have Eternal Life after you have died, please go to our short webpage on this subject.

Many Translation projects in Christian Ministry, claiming to be funded by Christians are NOT undertaken nor started, nor finished by those who are genuine Christians. Many of the people who undertake religious translation projects are RELIGIOUS people or SPIRITUAL people, but they are Not Christians by standard historic scriptural standards of what makes a person a Christian.

Some of those people might be offended or afraid to realize the truth of this. It is not comfortable to claim the Title of Christian while disclaiming historic Christian theology. But that would not make it any less true. Most people who are genuine Christian already know these things to be true.

The PERSONAL Impact of Errant and Incorrect Translations (English and Foreign)

The Bible is the Top Selling bestseller of ALL time. It is STILL the Bestseller of all time, each and every week. Millions and millions of copies are sold every year.

Millions and millions of those copies are produced NOT by mission organizations but by Secular or corrupted Publishing Companies. Many of those companies know nothing about the sacred nature or the sacred character of the Bibles that they promote or distribute. The presumption that if a Bible has been produced or has been published, that therefore it MUST be accurate or reliable is a FALSE and dangerous presumption.

The presumption that scholars who work on Bible translations have the goal to translate historically accurate translations is a FALSE presumption.

Westcott and Hort worked all of their life to promote their own New, Unique, Invented greek Text, and their intention was to replace an accurate Ancient Greek New Testament text with their own. With the modern versions, they succeeded.

Textual Critics, academics and professors have long held a strong bias againt the Bible, not because of any reason of scholarship, but because of their own preconceived notions of how they guessed that God should reveal Himself to them.

The Group known (from the 1990s) as the Jesus Seminar is [an example of] a group of modern Textual Critics who have as their goals to UNDERMINE historic Christianity, and to affect Christians. Their goal is NOT the production of a historically accurate Bible by standard Christian criteria.

The individuals who collectively make up what is today called Textual Criticism are usually attempting to work Against Historically accurate translations of the Bible. In the 1800s, One of the originators of the field of Bible Attack (better known "Biblical" Textual Criticism)  was the Apostate F.C. Baur.

Baur taught in the field of history and historic Christianity, though he used his academic position to work for his entire career against the Bible and the authenticity of the Bible.

Another Textual Critic who was strongly opposed to the historic text of the Bible was Griesbach, another professor in Germany committed to the overthrow of the Historic Bible used by Christians since the time of Christ.  Griesbach was a textual Critic who frequently attacked the authenticity of the New Testament. Today, he is known for being among the first to CUT OUT sections of the Bible and substitute his own. He published his own version of the New Testament in 1805 (1809 also), and this was widely trumpeted and proclaimed to be an accurate version, which it was NOT. Griesbach's New Testament was used to deceive many academics and some Bible Translators also.

This 1805 version of Griesbach was used for the translation of the Bible into Foreign Languages, and in the case of Griesbach including the CHINESE language !!!!!

There are today MANY versions of the New Testament that are NOT accurate, not accurately Translated, and NOT accurately translated from the correct manuscripts. They each sell Millions and Millions of copies every year, and they are Each bought by millions and millions of unsuspecting people, who depend upon these versions and base:

a) their worldview

b) their understanding of God

c) their understanding of Christianity

d) their understanding of Prophecy

e) their understanding of the Gifts of the Spirit

on the many modern versions of the New Testament that have been changed, altered, corrupted and are NOT translations that are faithful to the original and accurate Greek and Hebrew Manuscripts from which they claim to be translated.

Ignoring these facts, has real, personal, and genuine consequences for millions and millions of people every day.

God tells each of us to Seek TRUTH, to love Truth, and to take care that each of us - as Christians are NOT deceived.

But in the case of Bible translation and Bible versions, the first act of DISOBEDIENCE on the part of Christians is that they have NOT investigated the facts for themselves, they have not investigated the Truth or accuracy of the versions that they use, and they are often Spiritually Deceived as a result of their own ignorance and their own laziness.

In other words, by their ignorance and unwillingness to find the facts out for themselves (no matter what language they read the Bible in, since the point remains valid for almost all modern languages), these people are making the CHOICE to volunteer themselves to be and become Spiritual Deceived through the Errant Translations they CHOOSE to use.

-----------------------------

In order to establish the criteria for a Bible Translator, we need to consider the criteria for two People, as the criteria is stated in the New Testament.

1. The Criteria for the Spiritual Understanding of All true Christians.

2. The Criteria for Spiritual Leadership and being a Pastor for Christian congregations.

-----------------------------

1. The Criteria for the Spiritual Understanding of all true Christians.

Scripture Passage  The point of the passage in this context

I Corinthians 15:

41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

43 It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual l, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.

48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.

49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

In this passage, the author is contrasting the First Adam (who was literally the first Human, and created by God)

[evolution would not matter in this context, since Adam would STILL be that first Human, but for more information about Evolution, click here]

and the Second Adam, who is Jesus Christ, who was and Is God. (V 47).

The Gospel of John refers to Jesus Christ [the Word] as the actual Creator of the Universe.

Take a close read at v. 50

Corruption cannot inherit incorruption.

What Paul is saying is that the nature of someone who has been saved and is a Christian, and has therefore been transformed by the Holy Spirit, is NOT to be considered the same as the spiritual nature of someone who remains Corrupt, an individual who has not yet been regenerated (saved) by God.

This has great implications for translators. Translators who are not saved, are using the information they have gained through their Human fallen (pagan) nature. They do not yet possess a spirituality that is in agreement with God. As a result, all sorts of mistakes and mistranslations remain not only possible but likely, becaus the unregenerate translators have not been transformed and therefore do not have the mind of Christ.  The results are visible in the lack of accuracy and the lack of spiritual authority and power contained in their ERRANT versions of the Bible.

----------------------

Scripture Passage  The point of the passage in this context
II Corinthians 5

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

This passage explains the process of what happens when a person trusts God through Jesus Christ and is spiritually transformed. It is a genuine process and a real experience.  But it cannot be measured or understood through human eyes or a perspective of an unregenerate and unchanged individual.

Notice - according to this passage - that OLD THINGS are passed away.

That would include the OLD WAY, or the Unregenerate way of understanding the New Testament. In other words, the understanding that a person has while reading the New Testament during the time that they are not yet saved, converted or transformed by the Holy Spirit will be DIFFERENT, from what that same person will be able to perceive and understand once they have repented and surrended themselves to God, and been transformed by the Holy Spirit.

The ministry of each Christian, is a ministry of Reconciliation. Notice though TO WHOM reconciliation is accomplished. This kind of reconciliation is NOT the usual reconciliation between humans on a human level. Instead the Reconciliation that God brings about is the reconciliation of each of us WITH HIM.

V. 19 states that all Christians (true followers of Jesus Christ) are in the state of being committed to the Word of Reconciliation, meaning the Scriptural message of reconciliation of humans BACK to GOD.

That is a great message. The trouble is that with  Translators of the New Testament who are NOT saved, who are NOT regenerated (changed) by God, those translators remain in a spiritually darkened state with a darkened mind, unable to either be reconciled THEMSELVES to God, or to be able to reconcile OTHERS to God, since they do not know how to do this.

The result is that they do not have the internal spiritual knowledge or awareness of how to translate the passages in the Old or New Testament in a manner that not only conveys the words and their accurate meaning, but also works [through the Holy SPirit who WOULD be inside a Christian Translator] through their translation efforts to bring about the word of Reconciliation.

This is one more goal that eludes the Translations and versions that have been translated by secular or paganized and unsaved translators of the Holy Scriptures.

Scripture Passage  The point of the passage in this context
Specific Tasks (missions) given to each individual Christian:

I Timothy 6:

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.

5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.

6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.

7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

Scripture Passage  The point of the passage in this context
I Corinthians 2:

4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:

5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:

7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:

Scripture Passage  The point of the passage in this context
I Corinthians 2:

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Scripture Passage  The point of the passage in this context
I Corinthians 3:

18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;

22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;

23 And ye are Christ's; and Christ is God's.

2. The Criteria for Spiritual Leadership and being a Pastor in a Christian Congregation

The Criteria for being a Pastor (also known as a Bishop) in a Christian Church is listed in certain passages in the New Testament. The passages can be read here below:

Scripture Passage - Requirements for the Office of a Pastor (a Bishop) The point of the passage in this context
I Timothy 3

3:1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

The criteria for a Deacon is also established

Scripture Passage - Requirements for the Office of a Deacon The point of the passage in this context
I Timothy 3:

8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:

15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

The criteria for an Elder in a Church is also established:

Scripture Passage - Requirements for the Office of an Elder The point of the passage in this context

Titus 1:1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

4 To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake. [i.e. for the sake of money]

12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

15 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

6 Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

7 In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, ....

-----------------------

I Timothy 5:17

17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.

19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.

20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.

22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep thyself pure.
