Who was S. P. Tregelles ?
Tregelles is the one who misled the British Foreign and Missionary Bible society into accepting the Greek Invented Text of Nestle as a substitute for the historical Greek Textus Receptus, which finally occured in 1904. Nestle took 2 years of living in England in order to convince Tregelles. It was Tregelles and Nestle who struck a harsh blow to Historic Christianity in the West - by introducing the false text of Nestle as being an authentic replacement for the Textus Receptus.
F.H.A. Scrivener who knew Tregelles, characterized him as sincere, but also stated that Tregelles' work in Greek Exegesis was worthless, because of the false manuscripts that Tregelles had chosen. Tregelles is usually understood as being one of those who became seduced by the work of Westcott & Hort.
