HOLLYWOOD, CA (ANS) -- Allan Menzies, 22, of Fauldhouse, West Lothian, Scotland says he was inspired to murder his best friend and drink his blood after being visited by the evil female vampire in the R-rated Hollywood horror movie QUEEN OF THE DAMNED.

The movie was adapted from a book by Anne Rice, who has spent her whole career turning vampires and other demonic creatures into heroes for young people to emulate.

Menzies told the High Court in Edinburgh that he killed Thomas McKendrick in the hope of drinking his blood and becoming immortal after watching QUEEN OF THE DAMNED more than 100 times. Menzies also cannibalized part of McKendrick’s skull before dumping his body.

True to form, the liberal judge in the case recommended that Menzies can qualify for parole after only 18 years, despite his "life" sentence. Of course, God says in Numbers 35:31 in the Bible that murderers who kill in the first degree, with premeditation, should always be executed, no ifs, ands, or buts.

"This case shows the depths of depravity and mindlessness to which much of Hollywood and British and American popular culture has sunk," said Dr. Ted Baehr, publisher of MOVIEGUIDE®: A Family Guide to Movies and chairman of the Christian Film & Television Commission™, a non-profit Christian ministry dedicated to redeeming the values of the entertainment industry according to biblical principles by influencing studio executives and creative artists in the industry.

"Far too many in the mass media and their fellow elites in the legal systems, government schools, and universities of America and Britain have deluded many people, including many Christians, into believing that there are no absolute truths and no transcendent moral absolutes from God," Dr. Baehr added. "And, much of the Christian Church has failed to uphold biblical values and biblical discipline among her congregants."

Dr. Baehr estimates that the entertainment industry in Hollywood controls 90 to 95 percent of the movies that are produced and released around the world.

"Hollywood is America’s ambassador to the world," Dr. Baehr observed.

"There is good news, however," he asserted, noting that, because of the advocacy work of the Christian Film & Television Commission™ (CFTVC), the number of English language theatrical movies with positive moral values and positive Christian content increased 11 percent in 2002.

"There are also more movies aimed at families," he added, noting the popularity of such recent movies as FINDING NEMO, ELF, and SPY KIDS 3D.

Dr. Baehr asked concerned parents and other adults to support the work of his organization, CFTVC, to encourage Hollywood opinion leaders to make better, more positive movies with Christian, biblical values.
